An expansion joint is a main member used in the construction of a bridge as well as the bridge support, and it can make a smooth movement of bridge slab caused by the temperature change, drying shrinkage, live load etc. This expansion joint is frequently damaged among bridge members caused by the increase of traffic load, installation and careless repair. Also, the failure of expansion joint accelerates the malfunction of bridge support and the carbonation of a bridge concrete as drain water and sewage flow to the under part of bridge structure. Further, it causes a bad ride and traffic accident, and the frequent repair can cause the traffic congestion so that it is required to have a simple maintenance method as well as to increase the durability of expansion joint. Therefore, our company designed a new expansion joint, called Long Expansion Joint System, as a solution for the inefficient method of the construction process in the existing expansion Joints.

Feature of Long-run Expansion Joint System

Long Expansion Joint is system that can stand change of temperature, contraction and cliff of concrete, and provides smooth movement for upper surface.
In Existing joint system, the whole expansion joint had to be removed during replacement work. But thanks to our new technology,
it made so much easier and convenient by only unscrewing the bolts and rubber seal.
This not only reduces time for repairing works, but also reduces maintenance cost which is highly economical.
This system can be easily applied on already-existing bridges according to their types.

Safety Concrete has to be removed every time repairing work is done.
This is done using done by chipping machine which has much possiblity of disturbing the surrounding structure and also hard to handle.
Installation process has many steps with complication which increases traffic volume and stress Average working hour for the replacement takes place from P.M 10:00 to A.M. 6:00 which is nearly a day.
Concrete is only removed once to do repairing job, which provides much safety and less disturbance on other structure or to damage any side constructure.
Installation process is done by only removing the rubber seal which needs minimum 2 hours and maximum less than a day.
It provides enough and reasonable time for repairing work.
